After moving to Oregon, I found that I also enjoy hiking. I've haven't been hiking in a few years, but I have recently started again. Having friends that enjoy hiking will make it more accessible and they have some great ideas for places to hike. I like the more casual hikes where I can enjoy the scenery and not have to spend months training.
With a new group of people that I've met, I'm considering snowshoeing. I haven't tried it, but it is supposedly like hiking (but with snowshoes, of course). I'm signed up to go snowshoeing with my sister in January with a group of people.
When I was ten, my parents gave me a little 110 camera for my birthday. From the moment I started taking pictures, I was hooked...I loved photography. In high school, I started using a Pentax SLR and had a great time taking landscape shots of Utah, Colorado, and California. After moving to Oregon, my primary camera became a Canon SLR, which I've taken on my travels through the U.S., Canada, and Italy. And, recently, I decided I needed a digital SLR and purchased a Canon 50D. With photography being a passion, I've been known to wake up before dawn to get to a site to get the early morning light.
I've been making jewelry as a hobby for over 14 years. PCC had a class on making metal jewelry...blowtorches and metal. I loved it. After taking a glass fusing class at Bullseye Connection, I was enamored with glass. For more information about glass fusing classes: Bullseye Connection. I am interested in making glass beads and one of my desires is to take a glass lampwork class. A good place for more information on beads is the Portland Bead Society.
I love listening to live music. If I have a choice to purchase the artist in a live concert or studio version on CD, I always pick the live version. I like going to live music venues. Some of my favorite venues include Villa Montalvo, Golden Gate Park, Gordon Biersch, local cafes, and the Great American Music Hall. In Portland, Oregon, I've visited the Oregon Zoo concerts, Aladdin Theatre, Park Blocks, Jazz De Opus, Crystal Ballroom, Candlelight, Mississippi Studios, various small cafes, and others.
A few of the artists I've seen live are Stevie Ray Vaughn, David La Motte, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Little Charlie and the Nightcats, Shawn Colvin, Jackson Browne, The Allman Brothers, Rush, Paul McCartney, Nanci Griffith, Dirty Martini, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jean Luc Ponty, Omar Liebert, Carlos Santana, Michelle Shocked, David Wilcox, Cowboy Junkies, Leo Kottke, Bruce Hornsby, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Stephanie Schneiderman, Balafon, Jean Luc Ponte, Anandi, Ozomatli, various musician friends, and many others.

The stained glass window my sister Cheryl made for me. It was her second project after taking up the hobby and involved techniques that her instructor (with 20 years experience) said would be incredibly difficult and he didn't know if they would succeed.
